FOUNDED IN BOLOGNA IN 1802
A STORY OF TRADITION AND CREATIVITY
The Premiata Ditta Natale Salvardi was founded in the very heart of Bologna, in a small workshop located behind the great Church of St. Petronio.
Its activity began as a calcography workshop, using the siderographic technique in the early 1800s and contributing to the rise of philatelic collecting in our country.
In fact, the Bolognese calcography, founded in 1802, continued printing its engravings until the end of the 19th century.
BOLDNESS AND INNOVATION
THE FIRST CELEBRATION CASES
In the early 1950s, the need to carry personal Eucharistic items became increasingly important.
This led to the beginning of a small production of seal-skin–style leather pouches, containing everything needed for traveling Eucharistic celebrations.
In 1962, the company decided to patent its cases and celebration pouches, which had by then become synonymous with elegance and practicality for outdoor Masses.

THE COMPANY AND ITS CRAFTSMANSHIP
Over the years, the small workshop in Piazza Galvani has grown into a fully established company, with the production and distribution of over 1,700 items worldwide.
We create our products with the same passion and dedication that have always defined us, using only the finest materials.
CRAFTSMANSHIP AND SILVER WIRE
The soldering of our products is carried out using a torch and silver wire.
Thanks to the torch flame, the silver wire melts around the brass component, bonding firmly to it.
This is a process that requires extensive experience and exceptional manual skill.
CLEANLINESS AND BRILLIANCE
Metal polishing is carried out manually using specialized brushes and abrasive compounds.
This process is essential to polish the brass and remove any impurities, giving it shine and brilliance before it is gilded.
BETWEEN ART AND DESIGN
The medals applied to our Eucharistic cases are enamelled by hand.
The decoration is carried out manually using a syringe: thanks to the air pressure generated by the compressor, the color is carefully applied to the medal.
This is a highly precise process, performed freehand like a true drawing.
We personally design and create all the models for our medals.
A LOVE FOR DETAILS
It is the importance we give to details that has always set us apart.
We personally select the finest fabrics, paying special attention to colors and textures.
ITALIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP ABROAD
Every day, we export our products worldwide. We are present on international markets with over 1,700 items.
In 2015, we supplied 1,800 ciboria for the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia.
An event that made us proud of the work we carry out every day with dedication and passion, ensuring a unique and original product.
BETWEEN ART AND CULTURE
In May 2003, a special exhibition dedicated to the Salvardi company, entitled “For That Divine Piety”, was held at the deconsecrated Church of San Giorgio in Poggiale in Bologna, accompanied by a catalog published by Dehoniana Libri.
This exhibition was a tribute to the former Premiata Calcografia Bolognese, which, through its works, revolutionized the world of 19th-century engraving.
The greatest Masters passed through the Salvardi print workshop—artists renowned far beyond the borders of the city of Bologna.
“Sacred Images and Popular Devotion in the Prints of Casa Salvardi” was the theme of the exhibition, symbolized by The Blessed Virgin of San Luca, represented in one of the twenty versions created by Salvardi.
